Nevertheless, the driver of the #24 DuPont Automotive Finishes Chevrolet persevered. Gordon suffered through a 20-lap red flag at the end of the race, dehydrated and sick.
But, he led the last 34 laps to clinch the victory. It was the second of what would become five career wins on the California road course.
