When Chase Elliott takes to Darlington Raceway looking for victory in the Bojangles’ Southern 500 this September, he will be doing so in a paint scheme that pays tribute to his late cousin Casey.
Casey Elliott was a standout on the short tracks of Georgia and beyond in the early 1990’s. He then moved into the All-Pro Series and made a few starts in the NASCAR Xfinity SeriesTM. Tragically, in 1993, Casey was diagnosed with cancer that ultimately claimed his life in 1996 at the age of 21.
To honor Casey’s legacy and his place in the Elliott family racing heritage, Chase Elliott’s No. 9 NAPA Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 will feature a paint scheme at Darlington that throws it back to a similar scheme that Casey drove years ago.
Lionel Racing is now offering the 2018 No. 9 NAPA Darlington paint scheme in die-cast form. The 1:24-scale replica is being offered in two different trim levels - an Action Racing Collectables (ARC) Collector model that features an opening hood and also a fully die-cast ELITE version that is built with an opening hood and trunk. The car can also be purchased in 1:64 scale.
